Support for Infertility Gift Guide

National Infertility Awareness Week is coming to a close and while it has a tendency to bit of a downer topic, I wanted to wrap it up in a positive and uplifting light. So, I decided to put a fun little gift guide together of items that can help make that next doctor appointment, prescription refill, injection, blood draw or results call a little less painful. Read on for a handful of special gifts I’ve rounded up to help you support yourself or support someone you know battling infertility!

The Sunday Scoop #17

Happy Mother’s Day everyone! It’s my first official time celebrating the holiday and I couldn’t be more excited, although during fertility treatments I still tried to celebrate for three reasons: one, because over the course of the years trying I had indeed mothered two babies that never made it earth-side and I felt my effort and grief deserved to be celebrated, two, because I believed that although I wasn’t physically a mother yet, the act of working so hard to get there made me one even more so and three, if I didn’t try to make the day joyful than […]

Last Minute Mother’s Day Gift Idea

If there’s one thing I’ve learned so far in my short time being a mother (4 months and counting) it’s that parenthood is just a series of good intentions followed by failures followed by improvising solutions that often turn out better than the original plan. This post is sort of like that. I failed to pull together a mother’s day gift guide round up like I wanted too but came up with last minute idea that I think is even better. Being a mother is hard work and Mother’s Day is intended to celebrate and appreciate that. I know from […]

The Sunday Scoop #15 – NIAW Special Edition

Hey friends! National Infertility Awareness Week starts today and I’m kicking it off by rebooting my weekly Sunday Scoop posts with a special edition dedicated to Infertility. It’s an important week for me as I was diagnosed with infertility and subsequently went through infertility treatments to conceive my daughter so raising awareness has always been close to my heart. I know from experience that when more people understood what I was going through it was really helpful so if you know someone struggling read up and offer your support! I’ve been collecting articles related to infertility over the last several […]

The Sunday Scoop #11

It’s Mother’s Day today, a day filled with mixed emotions for many. I celebrate it full of happiness and love for my mom, mother-in-law and grandmas who are the best moms in the world but I also celebrate it with emotions that are less happy and more like, “can we just get past this day?” for me and all the others that I know who are struggling to get to motherhood or have decided it’s not the path for them anymore. It can be tough, but over the years this day has become easier because I know that regardless of […]

The Sunday Scoop #10

So I meant to bring you a Sunday Scoop last week, but it ended up being a quiet week around the blog this week purposefully. I was just having a take-a-break-from-writing kind of moment. You know the feeling, right? That sometimes a break from something you love brings even more creativity when you get back to it. Like absence makes the heart grow fonder, no? Speaking of growing…I’ve spent this weekend going to greenhouses and making some plans for our garden and landscaping. How do you not get overwhelmed by the choices?? I look at all the flowers and want […]

FertileGirl Superfood Nutrition Bars

It’s really inspiring to me when people take the challenges of infertility and make something great out of it (besides a baby!).  A great example being Allison, the founder of FertileGirl as she struggled with infertility herself and found successful with IVF after going back to the basics of managing stress, exercising more and of course focusing on optimal nutrition and then turned her knowledge into a company that helps others going through the same thing. What’s also inspiring is that at some point in her journey she decided to stop being quiet about her struggles and share her story […]

National Infertility Awareness Week 2018

As you may have seen from my Instagram posts, it’s National Infertility Awareness Week this week and the theme is “Flip the Script” because it’s time to change the narrative surrounding this disease and support those going through it. Infertility is a disease of the reproductive system which results in the the “failure to establish a clinical pregnancy after 12 months of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse” (although I don’t like the term failure). It’s often kept hush-hush, not talked about, swept under the rug and not thought of as big of a concern as it is. It’s time to shed […]

The Sunday Scoop #9 – NIAW Special Edition

Hey friends! Today marks the official start of the 2018 National Infertility Awareness Week. It’s a week to raise awareness about the disease that affects 1 in 8 couples of childbearing age in order to shed stigmas and help increase knowledge so those who suffer feel supported and less alone. I’ve got lotsa content commin’ at ya later this week but for starters I wanted to put together my usual Sunday links post with a fertility twist. I’ve been gathering these links for awhile, so forgive me if they aren’t up-to-the-minute current, but they are still 100% worthy of sharing. […]

Friday Fun: Fertility Edition

(Image Source: the talented courtneymprivett on Instagram, her blog is here. So creative!) Hooray! We made it to Friday! Since it’s National Infertility Awareness week I thought I’d share some of my favorite finds from throughout the week to entertain you that are related to this topic (and a few that aren’t 🙂 because I can’t forget to mention the funnies). This is a wonderfully written article on normalizing infertility. Many people don’t realize that the need to use donor eggs in some IVF cycles is a very real and necessary thing for some couples. This article gives insight what it’s like […]
