The Sunday Scoop 2

And somehow here we are at Sunday again. Who else is mentally gearing up to head back to work tomorrow? I will admit, work is not my favorite thing…so I get the Sunday grumps a lot. But I’ve been determined lately to not let work interfere with my weekend free time and I try not to think about it until Monday AM (Monday grumps are totally ok). I think it’s important to try and compartmentalize work time from home time and keep my mind on the present when I’m not there so that I can enjoy that minimal freedom time to the max. This weekend I maxed my free time with things I enjoy doing like having brunch plans both days with some of my favorite people, I went to Costco and I started planning out my backyard revamp for the summer because it will be here so soon! I blame Target for my eagerness since they already have all their patio furniture out on display. Conveniently Costco is located next to Target hence the reason I accidentally ended up there planning my backyard remodel. I just love Target and summer both so much!

Speaking of Target did you see that sandals are buy one get one half off right now? These have already made their way to my cart. Whoops.

Sales aside…here’s what else I’ve found around the web this week. Hope it can provide some entertainment to combat the Monday grumps.

Life Things

  • Since sometimes the Sunday grumps actually translates to mean there’s looming anxiety for what the upcoming week holds, this article on 8 ways to keep your anxiety from taking over might help.

Green Things & Health

  • This is an article from a little earlier this year about how H&M and Zara (among some 60+ other companies) have committed to going green by increasing sustainable design, use of recycled materials and repurposing of material by 2020. It will be interesting to see what that means and what changes occur.
  • Do you think about where your supplements come from or how they are handled before you consume them? This article takes a look at how companies like Amazon are not reliable for purchasing such items from because for one, the supplement industry is minimally regulated leading to “fake” supplements being sold and often these items are stored at less than ideal conditions that can damage reputable products. Supplements can be expensive so have a read to find out where to buy something that will actually provide you necessary vitamins and minerals, not just a way to swallow your money.

On Infertility & Motherhood

  • Did you know that the US is one of the most expensive (if not the most expensive) nation to birth a baby in? This article discusses how it sends some people into bankruptcy. That’s nuts.
  • Miscarriage is an awful thing to endure. You know what can make it worse? Getting an unexpected bill for it. Read how this woman experienced just that. I’ve had my fair share of insurance headaches on the road to trying to have a baby so I can relate to her pain and frustration. Anyone else out there too?
  • Bacterias both good and bad live in, on and around us all the time. It’s a weird thing to think about, so usually I don’t. However since the balance of your gut bacteria is so important, I do try and think about that by taking probiotics, etc.  I didn’t really think about how a similar biome lives in the vagina too. Fascinating! Learn more about it’s importance here.

Pure Fun

  • I LOVE this weekly round-up of funny tweets from funny ladies. It always gives me a giggle. Some people are just so damn witty. I’m sure another round will make it’s way to this spot on one of my future Scoop posts because I love to share laughing.
