Austin Local Highlight: Ella’s Apothecary

Ella's Apothecary group

I love discovering and supporting small businesses, and even more so when they are local! So I decided I’m going to try and highlight those I find more often here on the blog and on social media. I recently came across Ella’s Apothecary out of Round Rock (just north of Austin) where they have a brick and mortar too that I’ll have to visit. They create such lovely handcrafted, vegan, cruelty-free, organic, and sustainably-sourced, body care and candles that are often packaged in up-cycled containers giving them an eco-friendly twist. Their product line includes soy candles, wax melts, body lotions, perfumes, room sprays, aromatherapy rollers, hand crafted soaps, body scrubs, bath salts, eye pillows and more! Here’s a closer look at a few of the products in the Ella’s Apothecary line which they were kind enough to let me try out:

Citrus rosemary bath salts
Citrus rosemary bath salts
Citrus Rosemary Bath Salt

An invigorating and revitalizing bath experience made with pure epsom salt, pink Himalayan salt, basil oil, orange essential oil, bergamot essential oil, spearmint oil, and organic dried rosemary. It smells like the perfect bath aroma for a relaxing and soothing experience. I love the addition of rosemary to give it a crisp herbal note that would help clear the mind after a long day. We’re about to move into a new house with a useable bath tub so I’ve been saving this one up to use right away when we get there!

Lavender luxury roll on perfume
Lavender & Luxury Roll On Perfume

A tranquil scent that comes from the combination of fresh herbs like lavender, bergamot, eucalyptus, clary sage along with cooling camphor all in a base of 100% organic pure fractionated coconut oil. I love lavender anything so this is right up my alley! It’s a calming aroma that when paired with the other fragrances becomes even more comforting. The scent seems to last and is super easy to apply. The roller ball container makes it easy to bring along with you wherever you go.

Brown sugar and honey scrub
Brown Sugar and Honey Hand and Body Scrub

A skin-loving exfoliating scrub said to help slough away dead skin cells and restore your skin’s natural radiance. It’s made with organic brown sugar, organic honey and organic coconut oil packed in a cute glass jar with a cute little wooden spoon for scooping. Body scrubs are such a nice addition to a shower experience. I love that this one is made with super simple, food grade ingredients that are all kind to skin and smell good enough to eat. The addition of the wooden scooper spoon is not only a nice visual touch, but makes application so much easier.

Black shea butter purifier soap bar

Black Shea Butter Purifier Soap Bar

Made with activated charcoal to cleanse and purify skin with the grounding aroma of oak moss and aloe along with floral notes. I am a handmade soap bar junkie so I love testing out new soap bars. This one smells so fresh and clean and will help leave skin feeling that way too. The activated charcoal is a great addition for helping to gently detox skin while you cleanse.

Floral musk soy candle
Floral Musk Soy Candle

A 100% soy candle with a wooden crackling wick made with a comforting scent that’s the perfect blend of spices, lavender, citrus, and musk. It has notes of lemon zest and bergamot, lavender, lily of the valley, ylang ylang, Egyptian musk and moss. You know, I don’t always gravitate toward musk scented items, but this one just really smells like a warm hug so it’s hard not to like it. That paired with the crackling wooden wick give it all kinds of cozy comfort vibes.

Gold Match holder with pink matches

Oh and lastly, isn’t this little match holder with the hot pink matches so cute?! I’m not sure if it’s available for purchase, but if it is, it’s the perfect companion to the soy candles they sell. The pairing would make a great gift!
