Acure: Skincare

Everyone needs that trusty skincare brand that they can always count on to deliver. One that they can come back to when others have let them down, that will calm any adverse effects, that’s not fussy and will never over-react. Essentially a skincare best friend if you catch my drift. Well that BFF for me is Acure Organics. Not only are these products trustworthy as far as delivering on the promises they make, they also don’t take advantage of my wallet (aka, they’re affordable!). All the products are made with as many organic ingredients as possible in their plant + food based formulas. They are also all free of gluten, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, harmful preservatives, artificial colors and fragrances and are never tested on animals! They carry a full line of skin and hair care too so there are multiple options for any type of issues you want to solve. I haven’t tried everything they have to offer but have tried several products and have reviewed my skincare favorites below.

Acure_CreamCleanser

My numero uno for face wash is the Acure Facial Cleansing Cream. I was previously a diehard fan of Origins Checks & Balances cream cleanser and while that one doesn’t rate as the worst offender on apps such as Think Dirty (it’s a 4) I was really looking for a product with an even cleaner ingredient list that still had a similar cream consistency. This was the first product I tried in the switch and I’ve never looked for another – that says something! The cream texture isn’t quite the same but it is similar in that it’s not a full lather cleaner, which I like. It’s great for all skin types and is packed with moisturizers and antioxidants such as Blackberry and Rosehips. It’s also made with mint that acts as a mild cleanser and gives a hint of refreshing scent. It cleanses thoroughly, is gentle enough to use twice a day and doesn’t ever leave my face dry. It’s also never caused me to breakout, which is an absolute must! Certain oils cause me problems but the oils in this cleanser are high quality and never give me trouble.

Acure_Scrub1

Another favorite is the Brightening Facial Scrub. Again, I was an avid Origins Modern Friction user and was looking for a replacement with this one. This replacement isn’t the same but I definitely like it just as much. For comparison’s sake, this scrub works best on wet skin while the Origins scrub was suggested to use on dry skin. I like the Acure scrub for that reason because it feels gentler and I’m able to use it 3x a week (about every other day), which has become essential for my skincare routine. This scrub’s exfoliating ingredients are organic sea kelp and lemon peel which are touted as gentle, backing up my claim. It also contains French Green Clay to cleanse and Madonna lily stem cells to brighten skin. This product also never leaves me feeling dry and has never irritated my skin.

Acure_Scrub2

I was so hooked on the Brightening Facial Scrub that I didn’t realize there was another fantastic scrub in the lineup until I got a sample from the Whole Foods Beauty Bag a few months back. It’s called the Pore Minimizing Facial Scrub and is another fantastic option for exfoliating. I find this one to feel even gentler but it somehow seems to leave my face feeling even slightly more exfoliated than the Brightening Scrub. The exfoliating ingredients in this one are black jojoba beads that delicately scrub and Moroccan red clay that draws out impurities. It’s a creamier scrub too and almost forms a lather as you apply. I also love the smell of this one and the color. There’s something about using a product that has a pink hue that makes me feel happy. It’s a great product to start the day with!

Acure_AM

As you can probably guess, I was an avid Origins moisturizer user too, both AM and PM so I needed a replacement for both and luckily Acure has what I was looking for. I switched to the Day Cream made with gotu kola stem cells and chlorella that moisturize and protect. This is a medium weight moisturizer that is perfect for everyday use except maybe extreme temps. I generally use a lighter or heavier moisturizer at the height of cold or heat. This moisturizer calms my skin and never causes breakouts.

Acure_PM

For my PM moisturizer I was looking for something that really restored my skin while I was sleeping and found that in the Night Cream. It’s made with argan stem cells, chlorella and hydrating argan oil – all ingredients that help renew skin. Unlike the Day Cream that goes on rather creamy and smooth, this moisturizer deceivingly goes on a bit dry feeling. It dries quickly which initially worried me that it wouldn’t be moisturizing enough but the ingredients soak right in and get to work never having left me with dry skin when I wake up. It doesn’t feel heavy and has again, has never left me with a breakout.

I can’t say enough about how solid the Acure line of products is. I’ve tried a few products in their haircare line too and will post a review of those in the future. As a handy note, if you find something you like keep in mind that Whole Foods has this line on sale from time to time throughout the year so keep an eye out. It’s generally $2-$3 off which is a great deal! I like to stock up when those sales happen – the savings add up quickly for a product I use everyday so it makes sense.

Let me know if you have any faves from this line that you think everyone should try!
