Spring is in the air, which means time for new beginnings and change. It makes for a perfect time to start my blog where I hope to bring you all inspiration and encouragement for living a green lifestyle. Read on to find out why I started living green and for what kind of content I’ll be posting.

Going green is just the tip of the iceberg in my story. It’s an important component but isn’t the master plan. It’s become a really significant part of my life but I had no idea where it would take me when I bought that first bottle of paraben-free shampoo (on purpose) 2 years ago. I didn’t really know I was “going green” when I bought that shampoo, but that’s where it’s taken me. Slowly but surely, over about a 2 year time period I’ve been swapping products and habits and ways of thinking to become a more conscious individual. I’ve learned so much that I can’t hold it all in and want to share with anyone and everyone that it might help.

Going green means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. I think of it as making conscious choices and efforts to think about how what you are doing is affecting your self, others and the world. I think of it as cleaning up your personal health, making life better for others and taking care of the planet we live on and how these are all intertwined. My definition is very broad but really is so simple: just take time to care.

Like most people I didn’t just decide on a whim to go green. There was purpose behind it, great personal purpose. My journey started with a health diagnosis, or rather a perceived health diagnosis. You see (personal story turn alert) I wanted to start a family and I was having troubles with my cycle. I perceived that this meant I was in for a long road of struggles (and I wasn’t wrong). Although I believe there is a time and a place for western medicine and am not against it, I was fed up and didn’t want to use any prescriptions to regulate my system. After a little research I decided to take things into my own hands and try to correct things naturally. This meant a lifestyle change that re-set my viewpoints on diet and exercise, as well as being cognizant about what I put into my body. Along the way I’ve discovered that this lifestyle change could also benefit other struggles I was having including my skin, energy level and mood. Not to mention that, but it’s been fun to discover new products, ways of doing things and ways of helping others out. Going green has been a no-brainer! My journey is still a work in progress but each day I feel like I’m closer to the end goal. I’ll be sure to expand on my personal story in posts to follow!

While I started small, this has really evolved for me to include so much more. With this blog I hope to cover content that relates to my personal struggles, but also cover content that is lighter and relates to others that may not be seeking the end goal I’m seeking. I’ll post tons of beauty tips, home care, fashion, food and recipes, exercise, self-care and a healthy dose of positivity among other things. I want this blog to be a place of support and community for anyone else on this journey. I want to help spread the word about the positive impact that going green can make on your life and share the benefits that I’ve encountered personally. All choices have different outcomes for each individual but, if I can help at least one person then I’ve succeeded.

In conclusion, going green starts with small simple actions just like the wave at a sports stadium. You may feel like you aren’t making a difference but the small actions add up. If I can do this then you can do this. Lets do this together!

Cheers to spring and new beginnings!
