The Sunday Scoop #8

Hey friends! Happy Sunday! What are ya up to & what’s on your mind? Here are the things on my mind this weekend: 1) Aren’t these daffodils so pretty? 2) I’m missing the Beyonce show at Coachella, 3) New episodes of the final season of New Girl are airing now and I so happy and sad all at once, 4) Khloe Kardashian’s new baby and her baby daddy problems, 5) where is the sun and why is there snow in the forecast(??) and 6) I really need a vacation so I’ve been mentally planning that. Aside from what’s been in my thoughts, I’ve just been running errands, catching up on things, and planning on carving out some time for that new moon ritual below before heading back to the grind tomorrow. Read on to learn about it and tons of other awesome info out there this week:

First Things First

  • Are you the superstitious type about Friday the 13th? I’ve never been superstitious about the number 13 (I got married on at 13th, so I can’t be!) and this article explains why none of us should be. It’s actually an empowering number, especially if you’re a woman.
  • There’s a new moon in Aries tonight. I’m gonna do this new moon ritual (supplies in the pic above) and set some intentions for the new cycle. Who else is with me??
  • Also, have you heard/seen the video for  Janelle Monae’s new song “Pynk” that came out this week? You can watch it here and feel the girl power that her pants designed to look like a vagina exude.

Life Things

  • Do you ever have a hard time trying to describe what emotion you’re feeling? This handy emotions circle can help you pinpoint it.
  • In last weeks post mentioned a new memoir called “And Now We Have Everything” by Meaghan O’Connell that looks at the entry into motherhood and how it affects life. Here’s an interview with the author.
  • Have you ever experienced a sound bath? I was considering going to one recently but for a number of reasons it didn’t work out. I’m still intrigued though.

Green Things & Health

  • Eating for your future self should always be the goal. Here’s why.
  • Do you have gut problems (like the digestive kind)? Well this article says that celery juice can help. I’m willing to give this a try. I’ll report back.
  • Speaking of gut problems, there are marshmallows for gut healing? BRB going to make them right now!
  • I hesitate to call this a diet, it’s more like a conscious eating plan to help alleviate depression. Spoiler, it’s all about consuming whole foods and lots of fruit and veggies.
  • It’s not quite warm enough to open the windows for fresh air so maybe these air purifying plants can help in the meantime.
  • Magnesium is important for many health reasons including the health of your muscles (that includes the heart!). Here are ways to boost your levels.

On Infertility & Motherhood & Being a Woman

  • Tammy Duckworth became the first senator to give birth while in office this week. Congrats Tammy! As an additional note, her and her husband went through numerous rounds of IVF to conceive in the first place, so she’s extra badass for handling that process while serving on the senate too.

Pure Fun & Inspiration

  • Um…you’re telling me I can get my dog’s face printed on pajamas? So, like my two favorite things combined into one? This is absurd but also amazing!
  • I was already pretty certain that I’m past any prime Coachella years I might have had, but this display of outfits (are they even outfits? or are they costumes? I’m unsure) confirmed that I’d be way out of place. As much as I’d love to see Beyonce, I’ll stick to ticketed seats in a venue, with all my clothes on and no sunburns.
  • But if you are one of those youngin’s going to Coachella, eat some of this delicious food for me.
