January Subscription Box Favorites

Subscription boxes are really starting out on the right foot this year! January boxes came in hot and were packed with delightful goods. I’m thinking they’ve set the tone for a fabulous year ahead. Like I’ve mentioned before if you’re new to conscious/holistic living it can be a bit overwhelming trying to find products you trust. Subscription boxes can be a great way to get introduced to brands that are cleaner or greener at a fraction of the cost. As usual I review a handful of boxes and don’t always get around to sharing the full reviews so I wanted to at least highlight my favorite items from each so you can get an idea of what comes each month to see if a subscription box might make sense for your green living journey.

From Petit Vour (full box review here):
AETHER BEAUTY Eyeshadow Single ($16)

“Enhance your natural beauty with the power of crystals. Pigments of topaz, amethyst, and other crystals illuminate the eyes, while coconut oil and shea butter create a smooth, buttery texture for one-swipe application.”

I am so excited about this item! I’ve been eyeing this brand for awhile now because they have the prettiest looking palettes I’ve ever seen. To get to try a single out before making the full palette purchase is awesome. I think there were a couple of different color options that could have shown up but I got a color called  Amethyst. It’s a really beautiful deeper, warm, metallic purple color – like an amethyst stone really! Which makes sense because there is actual amethyst stone powder in the ingredient list. So cool! That means this eyeshadow carries the stone essence with it too so the wearer can harness it’s protective healing powers. I love purple hued eyeshadows and always feel like they work well with my brown eyes so I’m excited to give this one a try!

From California Found (full box review coming soon):
Get Naked – Naked Herbal Facial Steam in Calm and Naked Face Mask in Sunshine ($21)

  • “Get Naked is a handmade small batch company started by teacher Angela JohnsonRogers (AJ). Their mission is to create natural (Naked) products for the conscious consumer.
  • Most of their products are packaged in eco-friendly or recyclable containers and include ingredients that are vegan, locally sourced, fair-trade, or grown by AJ herself.
  • To AJ, being ‘Naked’ is about living as natural as possible; including what we put on our bodies.”

Face masks are one of my favorite things to receive in subscription boxes because they’re pretty versatile for different skin types. They are also a great reminder and tool for a little self-care sesh. I love that this is a duo of a mask and a facial steam (which are also really great for some self-care). They are both made with all-natural, simple ingredients to nourish and tend to skin. The steam is made with calming florals of calendula, camomile and lavender so it not only soothes skin, but also relaxes the mind. The mask is made with turmeric, rhassoul clay and bentonite clay to reduce inflammation and draw out impurities. I like that these can be used together in a facial routine too. Open your pores with the steam and then apply the mask afterward to rejuvenate skin. Can’t wait to try these out!

From Nourish Beauty Box (full box review here):
Earth Harbor Mermaid Milk ($42)

“Made with spirulina, matcha and seaweed extracts This is a potent yet lightweight moisturizer, rich in antioxidants, vitamin c, protein and almost every other nutrient that our skin needs. After cleansing and toning massage a small amount into skin in upward, circular motions.”

I have been eyeing this brand for some time now, not necessarily this exact product, but it sounds like a great one so it’s a good way to start out with their product line. This is a nutrient rich moisturizer that helps to hydrate, plump and balance skin. I like that it’s lightweight and absorbs into skin easily, leaving no greasy feeling at all. Many of the ingredients are organic and/or if not organic, at least non-gmo. It has a light scent to it that smells really nice, it’s a bit fruity/juicy I’d say – bright and sunny. Also, that color is so pretty! It’s really light but has a hint of a cool green tint. I’m guessing that comes from the matcha, spirulina and blue tansy ingredients. I love the ocean/mermaid-y vibe of this brand too – so good!

From Kinder Beauty Box (full box review here):
Lotte Naturals Morgan Eye Serum ($17)

“Give your eyes the boost they need with this caffeine infused serum. This de-puffing serum contains two rich, potent caffeine oils that help reduce inflammation and awaken your eyes. With organic sweet almond oil and jojoba oil that penetrate deep into skin providing lasting hydration, as well as helps to remove dark circles from under eyes. Enriched with Frankincense oil to add extra anti-inflammatory properties to reduce puffiness lingering under your eyes. Blended with nine completely natural, non-toxic ingredients that add the nutrients and hydration needed to enhance your under eye. Start your morning with a full wake-up call, and roll on your Morgan Serum.”

I’m always in need of a good eye perk up and love trying out anything that promises to reduce puffiness and dark circles. This eye serum is caffeine infused and is said to reduce inflammation. It’s made with simple, natural and effective ingredients that will help nourish that delicate under eye skin. It smells really, really good too! It’s like a coffee and sweet citrus mix so it’s scent is ultra bright and uplifting. It might sound strange, but trust me it’s a good combo. I would use this in the AM for the scent alone, but also look forward to testing it’s de-puffing abilities too.

From Vegancuts Beauty Box (full box review here):
Honestly pHresh Sugar Mint Natural Deodorant ($9.99)

“Fun fact! The formula uses a balance of prebiotics, minerals, and essential oils to keep you fresh without irritation.”

I love trying out new natural deodorants and this is one I haven’t tried yet. It’s a baking soda free, magnesium enriched, prebiotic deodorant that says it has 24 hour protection. It smells really nice- a sweet and woodsy mint scent. That comes from the sage, spearmint, peppermint and bergamot oils on the ingredient list. Many of the ingredients are organic and fair trade certified. I can’t wait to try this one and test out it’s odor protection claim!

From Vegancuts Snack Box (full box review here):
Lupii Lupini Bean Powered Bite one of either Tahini Lemon Cranberry OR Almond Butter Cinnamon Raisin OR Peanut Butter Cacao

Out of the handful of flavor options for this item I ended up getting the Peanut Butter Cacao bar. I love anything that’s the peanut butter chocolate combo so this is perfect! I’ve never heard of lupini beans before but that’s what this bar is made out of (plus 4 others simple ingredients including dates, peanut butter, cacao nibs and water). I’m always on the hunt for a good tree nut free snack thats quick so I’m really intrigued to try this one!

From Naturally Crated Box (full box review here):
Eternal Returns Candle Company Beeswax Candle ($24) N + E + US + SB + HC

“Sustainably made in Tennessee, these beeswax candles are sure to warm any room! We love the clean and relaxing scent of lavender and that they are in beautiful recycled glass bottles!”

Oh my! This candle smells divine! I love, love, love lavender and this candle captures the scent to perfection. It’s relaxing, fresh, and clean. It’s made of beeswax which provides the cleanest burn of any candle option. It releases negative ions into the air which neutralize pollutants and purifies the air. The other thing I like about this candle is that it’s produced in really pretty recycled jars so it reduces waste too. I’ve never owned a beeswax candle before so I’m really excited to try one out now. This would be perfect for any room in the house (and I might have to get one for each!) but is especially nice for the bedroom to promote peaceful and restful sleep.

There’s my January round-up of subscription box favorites. Looking forward to a year full of awesome subscription boxes ahead!
