The Sunday Scoop #11

It’s Mother’s Day today, a day filled with mixed emotions for many. I celebrate it full of happiness and love for my mom, mother-in-law and grandmas who are the best moms in the world but I also celebrate it with emotions that are less happy and more like, “can we just get past this day?” for me and all the others that I know who are struggling to get to motherhood or have decided it’s not the path for them anymore. It can be tough, but over the years this day has become easier because I know that regardless of how my story ends I consider myself a mother, because damn it I’ve given it the very best try I have within me and isn’t that what motherhood really is? Giving it the best you can every day for whoever/whatever you nurture in this life? Like the two dogs and 6 plants that I’ve managed to keep alive for extended periods of time. (#givingmyselfapatontheback) To me motherhood isn’t a black and white term, it’s grey and can mean anything you want it too. So to all the mothers, grandmothers, soon to be mothers, those who want to be mothers, those who are trying desperately to be mothers, those who have lost their mother, those who’ve chosen not to be mothers, dog mothers, plant mothers and any other kind of mother there is – Happy Mother’s Day! And for those who resist/hate the sentiment – then Happy Sunday! The Scoop is just a short one today. So enjoy the few reads from around the interwebs I’ve gathered up and have a fab week ahead!
